My husband and I have lost our farm in NC. We have moved to MD for jobs and we do not have a place for our llamas. They are boarded at a wonderful place but they need to find a new home. I am happy to say that I have found someone that can take all of the llamas but the two geldings, Elevenses Elian and Elevenses Applause. Applause is a good guard llama. He is a good protector of the herd I have. They are all wonderful, good-natured llamas that are comfortable with people. I was raising them for…

Hello, for those of you that do not know me, I am Jim White, the founder of LlamaSalesList.Com and Burnt Mountain Llamas, located near Harrisonburg, VA. I plan to pick up more Argentines in the future. We purchased our first llamas i

I have two cria born within two days of one another ~ one mom had lots of milk and the baby is thriving. The other mom has low milk production and the cria, at two weeks of age, is not gaining weight like the other cria. What kind of milk supplements would anyone suggest? I have never had to supplement a cria before.

The horses are finally coming to terms with the llamas. The first 2 days were crazy. My horses just knew that they were going to be devoured by the fire-breathing llamas. Now, however, they are doing better. We can get them to the barn, and they are standing in their stalls to eat without taking the barn down. I know eventually they will all be one big happy family.

Well, we finally got Pebbles and Kendall settled into their new home and low and behold the horses are convinced that they are horse eating llamas. My 4 beautiful, brave horses are now reduced to quivering equines that will not pass the paddock gate to the barn. It is quite funny really. The llamas are mystified as to what they are afraid of and just go about their business of eating grass and hay and lounging in their stall area. The horses however, know that they are fire breathing monsters an…

My daughter took our girl Pebbles to her first show and county fair. They took Reserve Grand Champion in halter and showmanship out of 7 in each class. A mixture of young and older llamas. I do not think that is bad for her first showing. I am proud of my girls.

Is this where I post what is going on around here. It is a testosterone wash around here. 17 boys and 6 girls. Yikes. If I get a moment I will post pictures, because they are all pretty special. THINK PINK.
I'm trying to think of some to consign to Celebrity. Have never done that before, but am pretty impressed with how Marilyn and Dan stepped up to cover the shortfall and how hard they are working to make it a success so think it is time to put up. Maybe when I put up pictures you guys can advi…

Ran across an on going story of a horribly abused Llama named Lilly and the great story of her recovery. In this day and time I supposed we all are subject to the kind of financial hardship that created this story - hopefully working together we can prevent innocent animals like Lilly from suffering.
Read the blog here http://lillyllama.blogspot.com/ a great story and some super information on what to do and what not to do with an injured Llama.
Hopefully in the not too distant future, Mountai…

I am so thrilled with my big guy, Eskalero's offspring. So far, we have had 1 male and 3 females. He seems to be stamping those red checks of his on everyone. The first two, Etc (f) and Extra (m) have done superbly in the showring. The two most recent ones will enter the show arena in the fall. I must say I am not only thrilled with the fiber and stature, but they all have the most trusting of dispositions. I'll try to add an image of the two most recent ones-- Extremely Bodacious and Effervesce…

We're halfway through shearing now! Scott and I shear by ourselves, with the help of our shearing table. We're getting slightly decrepit, so can only do about 6 a day!
I love to see them dance away with their summer 'do'- it's like discovering a different animal under all that fiber! Lets see- we've done 23 so far, so have 8 to go, plus the 2 guard llamas and 2 crias. Of course, we have to do standing shears on the big, beautiful llama girls!
Lots of beautiful fiber!!

I sold three to great people. I did not sell my Icebreaker boy, because he is truly an extreme suri with great people skills and I want to keep him for a stud so I put a reserve on him. The girl I brought home is a full Peruvian and I have some great males to put her with so I wasn't upset. Prices were pretty low, but enthusiasm was high and it has improved from last year. The sale is in a new location and it usually take three years for a sale to hit its stride so next year should be even bette…
