- My husband, Ed, and I operate Kindred Spirits Ranch, where we raise alpacas and llamas. Our ranch family presently includes 15 alpacas, 4 llamas, 2 Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs, and house pets of 2 Japanese Chins, a Beagle, a Black Mouth Cur (Coon Dog) and 2 kitties. We breed alpacas for excellent conformation and fiber, and gentle temperament. Our llamas joined us, at first, as guard animals for our alpacas. But we adore them, and now, we are beginning to work with llamas for the performance ring. We are beginning to think about breeding llamas, as well as alpacas, for the sheer love of them and the people we've met who love and care for them.
