Hi, I actually just bought a new ram today. I had been barrowing him to breed my ewe but I like him so much, I couldn't let him go. I may be in the market for new ewes soon though. And yes, I know Marie, she is the person I bought most of my jacobs…

I live and work on a fiber farm in Morrow County-we have Jacobs sheep and Navajo-Churros as well as llamas and a few alpacas. We train guard llamas, have survived coyote attacks (and written about one incident), published a paper in CQ on Guard Llamas and also do a little hiking, PR work and nursing home visits as well as take stock to shows and other pblic events. We welcome visitors to see the lambs and llamas and take home manure.
We also try to interest new shepherds in our breeds of sheep or at least considering other ALBC breeds to save the genetic diversity. Last year we sent Jacobs to two NEW farms in two different counties and in 2007, we sent them to one in AR as well as one in southern OH. We just placed another guard llama on a new farm - boar goats - nearby. We still have nice choices left and a few young boys that have a year to go before being full-duty guards.
One boy -paint - from April and three boys from May - Fran's was born Thu and we have a new alpaca girl just born today - will add pix when I get next set - also have an older - 3 wks alpaca boy that someone has already claimed when old enough.
Hi Meg, Thank you so much for replying to my post. I agree I need to rephrase cheap. LOL. I am looking for just like you said. Easy to handle, breedable, but doesn't have to be blue ribbon quality! That would be a nightmare for a new breeder to end up with Loco Llamas that go Awol. I started this endeavor to get into alpacas and have a guard Llama for each group of animals. But, now I find myself dreaming of breeding and raising Llamas too. Lot to learn, I know but the heart and passion to do it!
No, Chuck understands nothing. We are very near the end, Meg. My house in Lakewood is going to be vacant with a month, and I may very well be moving back.
We do have 2 ewe lambs in addition to the 4 ram lambs. The bottle baby needs to start living outside, or else he is going to be a problem. I put him outside this morning, spent about an hour with him among the flock, but as soon as I left him Chuck brought him back in.
Meg, Cruces now has 2 more ram lambs to his name, born this morning around 2:30 am. Both doing well. Now I have 4 N-C rams plus Cruces; do you have any ewe Cots to trade?
Hi Meg, Thanks for the info on shows. We probably won't show this year though my Granddaughter will be showing her last years baby this year in 4-H. @ Morrow Ct. Fair. We do want to go to some shows though to see what all is done and how.
Don't know the Murray's in Ohio.
HI Meg, I don't know any of these folks but hope to meet some llama people soon. We just started with the llama last year and due to a brooken leg right about the time we got them I haven't gotten to any shows or such. We hope to change that this season.
