These photos are beautiful! Who are these two snug looking youngsters? Here in sunny Vermont today the llamas were eating grass!

Aren't these guards incredible! Our guard, Lafayette, was frisking with his flock of Jacobs at dusk the other evening. The sheep were trotting around and around him, like a merry circus. Lafayette would turn around and around to watch, and then he w…

Skiing with Llamas...

Here in Vermont we are very fortunate to at last have some splendid winter weather, with lovely fluffy snow, bright, sunny, and extremely frigid temperatures - perfect conditions for skiing. The extraordinary notion of teaming up with a llama was conjured up two years ago, and immediately "tried out" with the most adventurous individual, (and the fastest walker), we owned at the time - Evangeline, called "Baby." Both Emma and Baby met with capital success, and since then skiing with a llama has… Continue

Thanks, we won't be seeing grass for a while. These are two young boys, the red guy is a Precedent son out of a red Kantu daughter and the white guy is a San Paolo son out of a very large Peruvian Fabio daughter. They looked so inquisitive, probably wondering why I was out in such snowy weather.

Six crias! You will have your hands full along with all the fun of course! All those little ones running around to train will be like a rodeo or should I say "skiodeo"!
I see you had a couple nice Ballistic crias last year. Are you going to show them off this year?

I think I have one cria due in Summer 2010. Just writing it down sounds unreal...only one cria due this coming year? Now I hope for at least two!

I used to breed to have late fall/early winter crias as I had more time to devote to them.
Contemplating the past two harsh winters with crias I said enough. So, I didn't breed llamas this past fall or winter. Thus, I didn't check any of the females this past fall to see who, if any, settled from summer. I plan on waiting until late spring to check.

You will have to follow and join in the discussions on genetics. Read the comments with Lucas and me.

How much are you selling Terebellum for? Also where are you located?

Hi Emma and Margaret, Thanks for the comment on the photos. I wish I could do the clever stuff with photos that Emma can do.

No, I won't be going to Celebrity. At this point in my llama life, I don't travel far Hannah and I go to the few shows offered within 2-3 hours of us.. The new barn is wonderful, but it took up any travel/llama money for the year!

Anastasia was/is georgeous - I did sell her to a nice llama family. Anastasia's sisters are that high quality like Anna - I haven't taken them to many shows. Zolena, a paint will be bred to silky suri argentine Don Zunca here at home, probably this spring. Terabithia will be going to some shows this year and bred later to Don Zunca.

I have some suris and am breeding some of my argentines to my very large females and the result are silky suri fiber on some of them. Lots of fun!

Hi Margaret and Emma,
So good to hear from you! I would love to see photos of Kabella and your new Bal boy. Kabella sounds like Esuri, Charlies Bal daughter.
Big Red lost this last cria, as she was still born. I was so very disappointed. She is doing well and we will be rebreeding her in the Spring.
Hope your holidays were warm and happy,
Alaine
