No, I didn't breed any of the adults you're looking at - well, I did breed Miracle. But the babies are all from my program - mostly using Kadabra and Locktight - but I'm getting ready to throw Mashuga in the mix. He's been around a long time and mak…
Ok, cool! Come to think of it, my male does seem to have a glossy coat in pictures with flash etc too. I got him from Sonador Farm. Not from my own breeding.
Probably the ones you were admiring most were the Pleasure Valley Llamas - they always look fantastic. I don't believe they use grooming products on their animals. And Kadabra is just naturally that way.
I have found that I'm doing much better breeding non-suri to suri rather than breeding suri to suri. Other folks may have had a different experience - but I think I'm probably going to stick with that formula.
Now that is a beautiful llama! I would kill to have that in my barn ;-) I can't even afford to have a suri female :-( I do have a light wool female, and I am breeding her to a gorgeous suri this spring, so hopefully I get something out of them!
Thanks. She really is nice. I have since sold her to Sharon Van Hooser at Triple V Ranch. I really like the Loch Ness offspring from Pleasure Valley Llamas. I still have a stud (Locktight) and 2 girls that are from that breeding program.
I've had llamas since 1994 - started with a herd of males and geldings used for picnic hikes in Texas state parks. I began breeding in 2001 and have gravitated to suri llamas. I purchased a large part of Danny Keller's llama herd last year and now have about 100 llamas - about 40 of those are retired packers and older ladies.
I am an operating room nurse and have been a Director of Surgery for many years. I am currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Suri Llama Association.
Besides my llamas, I live with a horse, 4 big old cows, 2 miniature Zebu that I accidentally bought when I was stalled next to them at the Fair, an ancient sheep, and a motley crew of dogs and cats.
I just got on Llama Journal today and posted a few photos. I'll post more today. U Rock is doing great. I just wish he would hurry up and mature so he could settle my HF Terry daughters. We'll be going to the FL show 2/6/2010 and the Perry, GA Hillbilly Show in 2/2010. I'm taking my 4 boys and 1 girl to the FL show, so we'll see how they do.
