Profile Information

About Me:
Hi! My name is Julie and I own, along with my husband Derek, a 30 acre Michigan Centennial Farm. My ancestors purchased our family farm back in 1905. Our farm, up until now, always was a dairy farm. We named our farm Blooming Valley Minis because "Blooming Valley" is the historic name for the area we live in. I became interested in miniature llamas in 2002 while in college. In 2005, I was finally able to purchase my first minis. Since then, our farm has grown to include 21 registered miniature llamas. Derek and I enjoy showing, participating in parades and just hanging out with our minis. I also enjoy writing articles about miniature llamas for LamaLink.com.

Julie,
I saw your question re: one testicle in a male. They can definitely retain a testicle up in the scrotal sac and getting it to come down is usually a surgical situation. It is also often genetic and although they can still breed, it is my understanding that they should not be used in a breeding program and kept in the gene pool.

Julie, I have a question. Is the AMLA closed to registering foundation minis? I have someone interested in a four year old male who is 38 1/2". His mother is a registered mini and he is much, much smaller than his sisters.

Hi Julie,
It's nice to meet you! I enjoyed looking around your farm website; you have such a beautiful place! One day I hope to be able to own a farm, but it will have to wait as right now, I'm still in the middle of college :) I enjoy my llamas very much, and it is really hard to have to devote so much time to school and not as much time to playing around with them. Again, it is nice to meet you :)
