This discussion isn't for everyone to put care to this cause. Hopefully this discussion helps at least one breeder to to save one NA Llama by bring awareness to this issue then maybe someday we won't regret our loss. There are still a few good ones…

I have a full NA female, but I have yet to breed her to a full NA because there just isn't much of a market for it. Full North American just doesn't seem to scream "BUY ME!" to anyone unless you've got the real popular lines like Etol or The Canadia…

Oh no Cheryl...... we are going to miss you (and Todd too). I think that we will get Free Spirit after Celebration. We will have to plan a day. Do you think she is bred? I can't wait to see her..... I am super excited!

Yeah, I've only got 10 or so breeding females, with a core group of around 5 that aren't going anywhere, and a rotating cast of other girls. So 4 babies in one month is pretty high for me, for a long while it was 4 babies a year : ).

That breeding program sounds like a fun haha. Last year I just separated out all my females that were less than two and let a male live with them for a month, that actually worked out pretty well, only one girl came up open : ).

Lol!
Just enough crias to keep you busy.
I bred several last year but only once so I will be surprised this May/June! I did not breed for any fall crias this year. I plan on breeding a few this late spring.
Instead of posting photos...again I manage to post a new discussion in Genetics...check it out. I know you will be very interested in this one. Signing off for shuteye! Cheryl

Yeah, I've got 4 of mine and 3 of my dads due May/June, and then a few more scattered in late summer/early fall. Should be fun : ).
Are you guys breeding this year?

Thank you Cheryl for the Birthday wish! Did you see my facebook posting about my sister, Kim! The Dr. is calling her Cancer Free. They feel they got it all out of her lungs and her Thyroid tested negative for cancer. So they are not even recommending Chemo treatments. The best gift I could have gotten. I hope all is well with you!
Hugs,
Nikki

Hi, I am expecting my first cria ever born on my farm from Sol-Orr's Barefoot Contessa this spring, and I am sooooo excited. I hear she is an excellent mother. It is great to 'meet' you! It's ok about the name...everyone does it ;-) haha.

My goats are not organic, but they are fed with no pesticides and during the summer mostly fed by foraging.

Yes, summer babies are especially scenic, nestling down in the green grass.
However, our November cria is doing really well, bundled up in a cozy, cozy Sopris lambskin coat - the first warm blanket we have found.
Winter is a great time to train as everyone is always handily in the barn, or creep, as the case may be. But, in winter, there are still cold fingers!... vs. in summer, eternally busy/occupied/out of reach pasture enthusiasts! That is really all right though. Come evening, they all come into their paddocks for baths, barn time AND handling.
Spring wins!
How are your summer Casi Cielo babies doing? Hmmmm, I have to agree with Kyle...how about adding photos of some stunning Velkommen llamas here?
